Squirrels Nursery/Pre-School 2024 - 2025
Mrs Lonsdale Owls
Hi!! I have worked here at Woodlands for thirteen years. I have taught across all of Key Stage one in my time at Woodlands. I am so exited to be working in the EYFS team this year.
I am looking forward to leading EYFS alongside Mrs Watts in Miss Skillen's absence, whilst she is on maternity leave.
When I am not in school I love to spend lots of time outside with my husband and our little girl at our allotment and in our garden. I also help to lead a local Rainbows unit! I have a cheeky little cat called Percy and six pet chickens! When I am not busy at the allotment or outside I love to sew and make things. I love being creative!!
I am currently the EYFS CLL (Communication, Language and Literacy) lead at Woodlands Primary school.
I can't wait for our learning journey and adventures together!
Miss Skillen
Hello everyone! I am Miss Skillen, and I am the EYFS and EAL leader at Woodlands Primary School.
In my teaching career I have taught in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 and for the last two years led our KS1
phase; I am thrilled to be continuing my journey as EYFS leader in September. I am extremely
passionate about Early Years Education and believe that teaching life skills such
as team work, resilience and celebrating diversity in our community help children
become curious, lifelong learners. I have a real passion for the arts. I love designing, making, acting and singing- you will love hearing my angelic voice in class. You will often find me in the crafty corner helping children make their huge imaginations come to life. When I am not in school, I enjoy going to concerts, spending time with family and friends and going to see musicals. You will often find me in theatres singing my heart out to my favourite show tunes or belting out songs from the early 2000
Mrs Watts Owls
Hello, I am Mrs Watts and have worked at Woodlands for the past 18 years. I have worked in Reception, KS1 and lower KS2 during my teaching career.
I am looking forward to leading EYFS alongside Mrs Lonsdale in Miss Skillen's absence, whilst she is on maternity leave.
I am currently the RE and World Views lead. In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, reading and spending time with my son and daughter.
I enjoy teaching all subjects and am looking forward to an amazing year in Reception. I am sure we will have lots of fun during our learning journey in Owls!
Welcome to Squirrels class!
Here at Woodlands Primary School we have extended our childcare provision and opened our Squirrels class for 2 year old children. We are so excited to now be able to offer our local families and school community care and provision for children who are 2 years+, alongside our already well established preschool provision (Foxes).
As a school, it means there is onsite provision for children from 2 years of age; parents will now be able to use their funded childcare entitlement within our setting.
If you wish to know more about 'Squirrels', or want to call in for a chat, please contact Jann Bell: j.bell@woodlands.cheshire.sch.uk / 0151 329 3164 to arrange a visit.
Take a look at our wonderful classroom!
Summer
This half term, we will continue to inform our planning following the children's interests. There will be lots of enhancements added to the continuous provision both indoors and outdoors to provide exciting and stimulating learning experiences for the children .
In the two-year old nursery, we will continue to focus on helping your child develop in the Prime Areas of learning following their interests.
We will be exploring the season of Summer through stories, song, art and rhyme as well as many other activities.
